From 5/16/16 email:
So this week felt like forever for whatever reason, but I made it through. We had an interesting week. The zone is doing awful...so that doesn't help. Key indicators are terrible and it's rather embarrassing to report them...especially when you to talk to the stake president about it. Motivation throughout the zone is next to nothing, and we have some companionships doing basically nothing. Elder Eldredge and I were terrified to report to the Stake President; we knew it was going to be a looooooong talk.
Before we met with the stake president though we had Zone Meeting. Elder Eldredge and I decided, with the consent of the district leaders to have a Slam Session, meaning we were going to put up the average of key indicators for the last 3 weeks for each companionship, and basically talk about how we aren't doing our job as missionaries and that we have GOT to pick it up. I have never seen so many 0's before...it's super depressing and rather irritating, especially when you are blamed for the lack of key indicators and it's not even your fault. But we have to man up and own up to it. It is our zone after all.
We had several trainings on motivation; I gave one on being an extra miler, stepping up to the plate, and working harder then ever! Then we went and met with our stake president...that was an experience in itself. My heart was pounding as we walked into his office, I was just waiting for him to ream us because the zone was doing so badly. His office is really quite comfortable and pleasant, but it wasn't on Thursday. The lucky thing was that he didn't really blame us for the key indicators, though he stated several times that they were AWFUL! But he blamed the members because they weren't stepping up and doing any missionary work themselves. I made sure to assure him that he shouldn't just blame the members, that there are missionaries that aren't giving their all as well. We left with a fire under our rear ends and resolved to make a change!!
We bumped into one of our ward mission leaders (since we have 2) and we told him what we talked to the stake president about, and we brainstormed and came up with some ideas. He came to ward coordination that Sunday with packets for us and each ward missionary and we talked about how we NEEDED to make a change. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!! We also talked to our other ward mission leader and explained the same things. Hopefully we can get things going in both wards. So that was my week!
Hope all is well! Miss and love you all!!
Elder Takis
