Awesome!

Email from 2/1/16:

"Things are going well here, still seeing lots of awesome miracles! We picked up a new investigator this week!! She's awesome!! Her name is Lisa. She is single, but she has a 14-year-old son (he doesn't live with her though). We met her while trying to contact a former investigator, but the person we were looking for obviously didn't live there anymore. So she asked what we wanted (haha that's exactly how she phrased it too!) and we told her that we were missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ...you know the drill! haha We told her a little bit about what we do and she looked at us with a funny look after Elder Sekona finished his sh-peel (no idea if that's how you spell that) and there was a silent pause and she was like, "Well go on...teach me!" haha so we were like, "well can we teach you outside?" She said we could so she came out and we started to teach her.

"She told us how she had had a pretty rough life and that she'd been abused, and that she is an alcoholic, and she was a surviving cancer patient, and many other things that I'm not at liberty to say. She told us that her brother died from cancer and if I remember correctly so did her dad. We taught her about the Atonement and that her family has the ability to be together forever! She started to cry and the spirit was really strong. We asked if we could come back and she said that she would really like it if we could. And she told us she really wanted to come to our church as well!

"Our next visit with her was AWESOME!! We brought a member with us and she was a huge help and she brought her son so we could go inside. Lisa was drunk...but we had an awesome experience. As we were teaching her she was just crying the entire lesson due to everything that we were talking about and because of her life in general. 10 minutes into the lesson she interrupted us and told us that she was going to finish her drink...so she got up and went into the kitchen and grabbed her glass of juice mixed with Vodka and brought it back into the room. (My thinking is a lot of her drinking problem is to to help numb her up so she forgets feelings for a time.) There was silence in the room and she asked us if we were allowed to teach while someone drank. We told her that we would do everything we could to prevent her from drinking it. We then told her that she wouldn't be able to feel the spirit if she drank it and she paused for a moment to think. She then got up quickly and ran into the kitchen and dumped out her drink in the sink!! IT WAS AWESOME!!! The rest of the lesson was just amazing. She then came to church the next day and she loved it!! She's a great lady! It may be a long process in bringing her into the church but hey she'll get there someday! :)"
